How to Use the Scrap Metal Price Calculator

Our free scrap metal price calculator helps you estimate the value of your scrap before you sell. Simply select the type of material you have, enter the weight or quantity, and choose the condition. The calculator uses current market averages to give you an instant estimate.

For the most accurate pricing: Separate your metals by type and grade before weighing. Clean, sorted material always commands the highest prices. Mixed or contaminated loads receive a discount because they require additional processing.

Water meters are priced per unit because their brass content varies by size. A standard 5/8" residential meter contains approximately 2-3 lbs of yellow brass, while a 4" industrial meter can contain 30+ lbs. Our calculator accounts for this automatically.

Catalytic converters are priced based on the precious metal content (platinum, palladium, rhodium) inside the ceramic honeycomb. Prices vary dramatically based on the vehicle make, model, and year. Our estimates reflect market averages — call for serial-number-specific pricing.
